What is a Film Location Agency?
Outer Space is a location library, representing lots of different locations across the UK. But what exactly does this mean?
In short, we provide places for production companies and photographers to shoot commercials, films and stills. Location agencies and libraries take care of the communication and admin involved in organising a shoot location. You might be a brand looking for a backdrop to make your new campaign pop, or a location manager tasked with finding the perfect setting for a TV drama. Agencies can help with suggestions for briefs, communication with owners and taking care of the paperwork, whilst leaving you to do what you do best on the day of the shoot.
Production companies and location owners alike may choose to use location agencies to organise their shoots to make use of a 'go-between', managing communication between parties, as well as drawing up tailored contracts for each shoot. These ensure that both the production team and the owner are happy with any and all arrangements.
Choosing an Agency
There's a variety of location agencies out there - some specialising in luxury houses, others in studios, and some, such as Outer Space, focussed on rural, coastal and industrial locations all over the UK (but particularly outside of London).
For filming in public ares such as streets, the local film council or Film Fixer will be able to help with hires, but for privately owned locations and venues, they're often represented by an agency such as Outer Space.
What makes Outer Space Different?
After running our sister companies Location Partnership and Amazing Space for over 25 years, we noticed that there was a gap in the market for an agency focussed on rural locations outside of the London area. There are plenty of agencies for stylish London houses, but not so many that showcase the beautiful and varied countryside locations outside of the M25 and across the UK.
We have a variety of hand-picked locations on our books, from sprawling woodlands and picturesque farms to atmospheric industrial sites and ancient castles. The UK film industry is booming and we want to make sure we can help production companies find their perfect location no matter where they're based. We have lots of experience booking all kinds of shoots, and we're always on the end of the phone or email to help with briefs and queries.
